Superpower Lessons on TED Ed
When I think of superheroes I think of superpowers. My thoughts on super powers range from the creative to the scientific. What superpower would I want to have if I could have any of them? Is it possible for someone in real life to have a superpower?
TED-Ed is one of my favorite educational sites, and from this I know I’m no the only one who has had some of these questions. There are videos and lessons, including questions, discussion topics, and additional resources all about various topics related to superpowers.
The educator who designed and narrated the superpower lessons is Joy Lin. She is a mathematics curriculum specialist at Linder Elementary School in Austin ISD. In 2012 she was selected as one of 18 winners of the national “Lessons Worth Sharing” contest sponsored by TED and Kohl’s Cares. This is the contest that resulted in the superpower lesson series on TED-Ed. She was also selected as TCTA’s (Texas Classroom Teacher’s Association) 2013-14 Innovator of the Year thanks to her fantastic contributions to education.
The TED-Ed videos are collected below, for the full TED-Ed lessons click on the corresponding links.

Found this link when I was looking up announcements regarding this series from my school. I’m honored to be featured. Add me on Facebook and we can geek out. Look for a series of 4 superhero science comic books coming out this year via Hatchette Children’s Group!

I had to share this series, it’s fantastic! Creative ways to teach and inspire learning are the best resources. I sent a friend request, I’m sure we’ll get along famously. Can’t wait to see the comic books!
